FAQs

  • How does StayWell improve health outcomes and truly engage a population?
    • Across StayWell’s 40-year history of reducing health risk in employee populations, our peer-reviewed research demonstrates that companies see greater results when they deploy best practices to build a true culture of well-being. Through our experience, we have defined the nine best practices for increased engagement and ROI. Learn more about them here.
  • What strategy does StayWell recommend to reach an employer’s full population?
    • When it comes to behavior change, not all employees are ready to take immediate action. So StayWell works with each employee at their personal level of readiness to make a change. From precontemplation (“Nope, not interested.”) to maintenance (“It’s a habit now, and I’m sticking to it!”), StayWell can empower your entire employee population with a robust, amazingly engaging platform that has something for everyone. From physical activity to financial wellness, our solution leverages the science of behavior change and user-friendly, tech savvy programs to help employees get well, live well, and stay well.
  • What is one significant emerging trend in the well-being space?
    • We know that the way people consume information and products has changed significantly with technology. It’s immediate. It’s digital. It’s right at our fingertips. We think AI technologies have the potential to revolutionize the future of how we receive care -- making improving health and well-being as convenient as any other consumer journey. Virtual reality and voice recognition have amazing potential to transform the healthcare industry as we know it, and StayWell is embracing these innovative digital technologies in programs that help people manage weight and practice meditation.
  • What were the findings from StayWell’s latest study on sleep?
    • Our recently published StayWell Sleep Study lead-authored by our own Stefan Gingerich, examined the effect of sleep on the modern workplace. Data from nearly 600,000 people revealed that getting too much or too little sleep is associated with impaired workplace productivity. Specifically:
      • Employees sleeping 10 or more hours per night missed an average of 1.6 times more days of work due to illness and averaged 2.2 times more productivity loss than employees who slept eight hours per night. · With five or fewer hours of sleep each night, employees averaged 1.5 times more days absent and 1.9 times as much productivity loss as employees who reported eight hours of sleep per night.
      • Employees who reported “almost always” feeling tired during the day averaged 2.7 times more days absent and 4.4 times more productivity loss than employees who reported “almost never” feeling tired.

Recognizing the correlation between sleep and productivity, StayWell has increasingly focused its employee well-being solutions on improving quality of sleep.
