If there’s one thing we’ve learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s that misinformation may be spreading faster than the virus. Nearly eight in 10 Americans say misinformation about the virus is a major problem.1

Use this checklist to ensure you’re delivering the latest health education that’s easy to understand and follow:

Call on your very own content creation team

Make sure you’re working with a patient education vendor who has an experienced team of medical writers, editors, designers, and illustrators proficient in turning the latest health facts into engaging, actionable education. It should also be reviewed and updated regularly to ensure it remains current.

Minimize the medical jargon

Patient education should be written at a 6th-grade and below reading level while meeting various literacy levels. Plain language, shared decision making, and learner-centered principles should be at the heart of all content. And education should be offered in multiple modalities—digital and print (written, illustration only, and video)—to reach every learning style.
